Resolved, Part 2

Talk about procrastinating: My post on New Year’s resolutions is coming out at the end of February. I guess that just means I need to be more motivated since I have two fewer months to accomplish everything.

Without further ado, here are my resolutions for this 2009:

1. Write more

Even though my current situation provides me with a lot of personal time (I live out in the middle of frerakin’ nowhere) I have somehow managed to avoid writing a lot this past year. And that needs to change.

I will:

• write more, and more involved blog posts
• write some scripts for things that Matt and I can film
• get back into writing stories
• try branching out into comics

2. Develop more

I did pretty good on this last year, but without any external output. This year, I need to release some code into the wild. Specifically, my workout tracking web app, and the project I’m working on with Quint. And that means getting them usable, robust and secure enough to put on the web.

3. Get a new Job

My current job is just not fulfilling. I need to do something else, and preferably …

4. Move to California

While there are many benefits to living in Quakertown (seeing my family, seeing Matt more, Tastykakes) my heart belongs in California. I would like to be back there before 09 is out. That involves #3, above, as well as finding someone to buy or rent this house. This might be the toughest one, especially in this economy.

So there it is, public declaration of intent. Let’s see how I did on these by next January.

It’s the “Snuff Box” theme

I’ve had more than one person ask what the song is that Karen is listening to in Episode 4 of Fan Film. I was going to leave it as an enigma until someone said it was Barry Manilow. So to set the record straight, and settled that is definitely NOT Barry Manilow; it is in fact the theme song from the short lived Brticom “Snuff Box”. It was written and performed by the show’s star Matt Berry, who is currently on the top 10 of my list for comedic inspirations from his work in “Snuff Box”, “Dark Place”, “AC/BC” and most recently, “The IT Crowd”.

No Photos Allowed at Henson Exhibit

Well, I’m afraid I can’t delivery fully on the pictorial report I promised about the “Jim Henson’s Fantastic World” exhibit because photos were not allowed. No real explanation why, they just weren’t – and they were quite serious about it too, we only saw 2 security guards in the whole museum that day, and both were patrolling the Henson Exhibit.

But fear not, I found this video on youtube that’s pretty extensive and captures a lot of the detail of the exhibit. So here it is, enjoy:

It finally caught up with me

All those late, sleepless nights trying to get the non-copyright infringing edit of “Fan Film The Movie” edited, rendered, and burnt to a DVD for the Xanadu Convention submission finally caught up me. I’m now sicker than I’ve ever been in the past 4 years. In the past 24 hours I’ve slept about 16. My boss all but pushed me out of the office this morning because I looked so terrible. And for only the 2nd time in 6 years I actually did leave work in the end because I was way too sick to stay.

But the submission got delivered in time. So was it worth it? F$%k yeah it was!

I’m going back to bed.
