Rough Edges

Speaking of the microphone on the Apple earbuds, there is one design change I would put to them: lose the hard edges. Just give the mic a tapered top and bottom. Because right now whenever I’m walking somewhere while listening to my iPhone, the edge of the mic constantly catches on the collar of my jacket, tugging at my ear.

Yes! Agreed! Plus, it looks like a total “after thought” in design. I picture a warehouse full of apple earbuds and 2 lonely guys sitting there clamping on these after production microphones with a couple of pairs of pliers everytime I look at mine.

hmm, can’t say I ever use my apple ones. The crappy little foam things never stay on them when I toss them in a pocket or in my bag, so I pretty much leave them in my drawer.

In my car I have aux ports to pipe the tunes and sound to real speakers, in my office, I use a set of Sony studio quality cans that I really like (over the ear rather than in).

For phoe, I have a great motorola bluetooth headset…so pretty much I do not need headphones. One of the few places this is not true is a plane, and there I use a set of Razer m250. These are the most comfortable earphones I have ever used, and worked even in the gym. No mic, but then again, that is what my bluetooth is for, and unplugging it and…you know, bringing the phone up to my ear…is not that hard :)

Oh, and the Razer has the cool sense to ship with plane adapters too!

Ugh, me and the quick submit, the Razor also fit iPhone with no adapter needed. They have a rubber sheath over the iPhone fitting jack, and that helps stabilize them in normal fitting jacks. Sound is good, pretty much, when mine bite it, I will buy another pair.
